Developmental baby massage can be beneficial for babies with tight limbs and restricted mobility, such as those with cerebral palsy. It can help to stretch and relax the muscles which can help improve their mobility. It is possible to work more specifically on areas of the body which are a concern for each individual baby. Alternatively for floppy babies over time massage can help to build some muscle tone and strength, reducing floppy limbs.
Similarly baby yoga can be adapted to meet babies needs and abilities, it includes activities for sensory development which can be very good for babies with any additional developmental needs.
If your baby has any known disabilities or if you have any concerns about your baby please let me know so that we can taylor the massage to suit and I can support you with this.
Provision can be made for both carers and babies with disabilities, please contact me if you have any questions.
For carers with disabilities please note that massage takes place with carers sitting on the floor with their baby. If you have difficulty transferring to the floor you may find it harder to participate in a group class. However, massage can be adapted, being done on a level surface such as a bed, please contact me if you would be interested in arranging a session at home.
Most venues have disabled access, please check the class list or contact me for details.
